Cormiston Farm is a family-run barn wedding venue set in the Clyde Valley near Biggar. With outdoor ceremony options overlooking the Southern Uplands and an 18th-century barn ideal for dining and ceilidhs, it offers a relaxed, rural setting for weddings shaped entirely around each couple.
Barn wedding venue with outdoor ceremonies in the Clyde Valley
Set within a designated National Scenic Area, Cormiston Farm is a traditional Clydesdale stone-built farm with a Georgian farmhouse, large barn and steading courtyard. Original features have been carefully retained throughout the buildings, creating a characterful backdrop for weddings that prioritise atmosphere, flexibility and personal choice.
The venue hosts a limited number of weddings each year – no more than one per week during the season – ensuring every celebration receives dedicated attention and a calm, unhurried approach from the experienced team.
Wedding spaces at Cormiston Farm
The Barn
The main barn is used for ceremonies, dining and evening celebrations, with space to seat up to 120 guests. A stage is available for bands or DJs, making it particularly well-suited to ceilidhs and live music.
The Hayloft
Overlooking the main barn, the hayloft offers a quieter breakout space ideal for relaxing, enjoying a drink or hosting an intimate dinner for 12–30 guests.
The Farmhouse
Perfect for cosy dinners with smaller numbers of 4–12 guests.
Traditional bar
A traditional bar is located just off the main barn, providing a natural gathering point throughout the day and evening.
Outdoor ceremonies and grounds
Most couples choose to host their ceremony on the lawn in front of the farmhouse, which overlooks the Clyde Valley and Southern Uplands. The views across this area of outstanding natural beauty are a defining feature of the venue.
Guests often enjoy drinks on the lawn after the ceremony, with space for garden games such as boules, croquet or mini tennis. The two-acre garden includes wooded areas, a kitchen garden and orchard, giving guests freedom to explore and photographers a wide variety of backdrops.
The steading courtyard opens directly from the barn and is frequently used for street food vans, barbecues or hog roasts. Fire pits, barrels and festoon lighting transform the courtyard into a relaxed evening space or alternative ceremony location.
Wedding packages and planning approach
Cormiston Farm offers two distinct approaches to planning:
• DIY venue hire – couples can hire the space as a blank canvas and choose their own caterers, suppliers, décor and styling, with the venue team available for guidance.
• Curated planning support – for couples who prefer a lighter planning load, a dedicated planner provides menu options, wine choices, flowers and décor suggestions, creating a flexible, personalised package rather than a fixed offering.
Elopements and intimate weddings
Cormiston Farm is well-suited to smaller celebrations and elopements. The farmhouse is ideal for cosy dinners for 4–12 guests, while the hayloft comfortably hosts intimate weddings of 12–30 guests. All weddings are exclusive use.

The self-catering Georgian farmhouse sleeps six and offers a comfortable base for the wedding weekend.
Additional accommodation options include:
