Opening in 2027, The West Works is a new exclusive-use wedding venue in Glasgow’s West End, set within a restored 19th-century church. Original sandstone and reclaimed brick meet contemporary interiors, interconnected event spaces and a private Walled Garden, with weddings for up to 300 guests.

Set on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow’s West End, The West Works gives a historic former church a new purpose as a contemporary wedding and events venue.

Dating back to 1881, the building has been carefully restored to retain its sandstone, architectural details and distinctive scale, while introducing polished concrete, modern finishes and practical facilities for weddings.

The story of The West Works

The West Works occupies the former Partick Methodist Church, which dates back to 1881.

After falling into serious disrepair and facing demolition, the building was acquired with plans to restore and reimagine it as a wedding, events and community venue.

Now family owned, The West Works retains much of the building’s original sandstone and architectural character while introducing a contemporary design designed around the practical needs of modern celebrations.

Exclusive-use weddings

The West Works is entirely exclusive use, giving couples and their guests private access to the venue for the wedding.

This includes the main event spaces, guest lounges and Walled Garden, with the connected layout allowing each stage of the celebration to take place in a different part of the building without guests having to leave the venue.

Wedding spaces

The Grand Hall

The Grand Hall is the main celebration space, combining exposed sandstone, reclaimed brick and polished concrete.

Its size and flexible layout make it suited to wedding breakfasts, dining, entertainment and evening receptions.

The Garden Room

The Garden Room is a bright event space connecting the main venue with the Walled Garden.

It can be adapted for different parts of the wedding day, including ceremonies, drinks, dining and guest seating.

The Walled Garden

Hidden behind the venue, the private Walled Garden provides an outdoor setting in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.

Couples can use it for wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, photography and informal dining, including sharing-style menus and food trucks.

The Lobby

The double-height Lobby creates a distinctive arrival space, centred around a sculptural stone staircase and combining original architectural features with contemporary finishes.

The Gallery & Guest Lounges

The Gallery and guest lounges provide additional spaces away from the main celebration.

They can be used for preparations, guest entertainment or quieter moments throughout the day.

Preparation suites

Dedicated preparation suites give couples and their wedding parties private space to get ready before the ceremony.

Further details on the facilities and number of suites should be confirmed with the venue.

Wedding ceremonies at The West Works

Couples can choose from three indoor ceremony settings within The West Works, or exchange vows outdoors in the private Walled Garden.

The choice of spaces means the ceremony can be shaped around the size of the wedding, preferred atmosphere and wider plans for the day.

Couples planning a legal ceremony should arrange an appropriately authorised registrar or celebrant for their chosen location.

Food & catering

The West Works works with five catering partners, giving couples a choice of different dining styles rather than a single fixed wedding menu.

Options can include:

•    Fine dining
•    Traditional wedding breakfasts
•    Sharing-style menus
•    Relaxed dining
•    Food trucks in the Walled Garden

Couples who already have a preferred caterer can also discuss external catering options with the venue.

Wedding planning and support

A dedicated wedding team supports couples throughout the planning process, with experienced event and bar teams on hand during the celebration itself.

The venue offers transparent venue and catering pricing, while still giving couples flexibility around styling, suppliers, food and how the individual spaces are used.

Accommodation and location

The West Works does not have on-site accommodation but partners with nearby Glasgow hotels. Selected partners offer preferential rates and discounts for wedding guests.

Located in Glasgow’s West End, the venue also offers nearby parking, venue drop-off and accessible parking.
