Dundas Castle launches Outlander wedding package

The Stag Chamber at Dundas Castle

To mark World Outlander Day, Dundas Castle has unveiled a new wedding package inspired by the hit TV series. It includes an atmospheric candle-lit ceremony in the castle’s historic Auld Keep, a Scottish piper and a medieval banquet. What’s more, every bride who books an Outlander wedding will be gifted a replica of Claire’s ring as described in the book, designed and crafted by Scottish jeweller Hamilton and Young. Couples will also be offered an appointment with local supplier, ScotlandShop, who can tailor some tartan for their special day.

The vows will be cemented with a traditional Scottish handfasting – certainly a cleaner alternative to a blood vow! – and there is an option to have the ceremony fully or partly in Gaelic.

The all-important wedding breakfast will be a lavish eighteenth-century inspired banquet, which can be enjoyed in the Castle’s main house, or for a more intimate wedding party, can be hosted in the medieval Stag Chamber. Finally, guests will be offered a tasting of Claire and Jamie’s much-loved whisky, before dancing the night away with a ceilidh. Fireworks and a dramatic ‘Beating of the Retreat’ will provide the ultimate Scottish finale to a perfect day.

The castle’s owners, Sir Jack Stewart-Clark and Lady Lydia, encourage couples to make themselves at home for the duration of the wedding festivities, amidst chandeliers, roaring fires, comfortable sofas and a stunning staircase. Each bedroom has been individually styled by Lady Lydia herself, resulting in comfort and luxury throughout, including L’Occitane toiletries and complimentary whisky.

Prices for the Outlander wedding package start from £11,500.
