We round up the stylish trends that wedding-decor experts expect to see in the year to come, from maximalist to multi-purpose
Retro decor theme
“The maximalism of the 1970s is one of my favourite throwbacks,” Emma Mallen of Duchess Seerra reveals. From velvets to tassels, reds to mustards, Mallen has been creating fun-filled, retro decor schemes that might even have a few disco balls thrown in for good measure.
Finding herself stepping back in time again, Emma of Duchess Seerra has been filtering the soft pastel hues of the 1940s-’50s, from table linens through to flowers. “These tones really add a romantic, whimsical touch,” she notes.
Eco-friendly decor
According to Katie Hart of Get Knotted, more and more couples are looking to be environmentally mindful as they dress their venues. Here, dried flowers are a win-win. Not only do they perfectly accompany a wide variety of colour schemes, they’ll continue to look good for years to come – making them a long-lasting keepsake.
Katie has another eco-conscious example: living centrepieces. She believes that potted plants or flowers can really liven up table decor. Here she’s opted to complement the greenery with an assortment of candles and an eye-catching geometric terrarium planter.
Snack wall
Snacklovers, gather round and behold the beauty that is Get Knotted’s iconic spin on the classic crisp wall – the crisp parasol! Katie says: “Quirky or personalised food or drink stations like this will endure in popularity.”
Multipurpose plants
Sarah Dallas of Ambience Venue Styling (Fife & Stirlingshire) suggests multipurpose plants as another sustainable, and cost-effective option. She says: “Using scented herbs, for instance, will provide a calming, inviting atmosphere for your guests.”
