One of the starting points of planning your wedding is choosing a colour scheme so you can make sure all of the decor, outfits and details fit perfectly together. It's super exciting, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
How to choose your wedding colour palette
Think about the location of your wedding and the type of venue, is it a rustic barn, a modern hotel or a grand castle? This will help set the tone for your wedding and you'll also need to take into consideration the existing decor in the wedding spaces.
The time of year will also narrow down the colour palette, with pastel colours becoming popular in spring, bold and bright tones taking pride of place in the summer, warm earthy tones becoming the focus in autumn and jewel tones coming to the forefront in winter.
Ideally you'll have one or two main colours with harmonious secondary colours, one of which should be neutral. For weddings, white, cream, beige and nude tones are ideal neutrals, and people often add in one metallic colour to finish off your palette.
Between three and five colours in total will strike the balance between a monochromatic wedding and a sensory overload of colours.
To get you started with inspiration, here are some trending wedding colours we love as the main focus, as well as some ways you can incorporate them.
Cherry red wedding
This deep red colour is trending for 2025, and although it's a strong colour that you wouldn't want to overpower the whole day, there are plenty of ways to add pops of this punchy colour into your wedding.
We love the paring of dark red with blush pink in the flowers and stationery, and love it as a statement wedding shoe too.

How to style Mocha Mousse in your wedding
It's the Pantone colour of the year and while brown isn't necessarily the first colour that springs to mind when choosing your wedding colour scheme, mocha mousse is definitely growing on us as a shade.
With a hit song from Sabrina Carpenter, a trend towards natural bronzy makeup and neutral tone 'fits, 2024 really was an Espresso era for a lot of us.
So, it makes sense that this natural and neutral vibe makes its way into the world of weddings, in the form of the warming and rich mocha mousse hue.
Mixing complementary shades of chocolate and coffee brown can lend itself to a classy and luxurious feel or a rustic theme. Mocha mousse works especially well across tablescapes, groomswear and bridesmaid dresses.
And of course, you have to serve espresso martinis!

I think we've established that pink goes with everything, and pairing it with orange results in an incredible summery combo.
Choose your colour intensity, from bold and pop-y to pretty pastels, and whether you want to lean into the orange or pink more.
Having light and deep shades of pink and orange provides a harmonious base for your colour palette, and you can add in cream or white as a neutral, plus a pop of silver or gold for some depth.
Dusty blue wedding theme
Why have something blue when you can have everything blue? Ok, not quite everything, but we're envisioning a dusty blue focus.
This beautiful pale blue colour is an elegant choice for weddings and is reminicent of Bridgerton's colour scheme.

Dusty blue pairs nicely with white, which is ideal for weddings, and feels perfect for spring and summer celebrations.
Emerald green wedding ideas
Emerald green has both earthy and jewel tones to it, lending itself to an autumn or winter colour palette.
Adding a real richness to your wedding, this colour will really pop against white and cream backgrounds, so it's great for a more neutral venue. The colour also looks amazing in an outdoor space, set against woodlands and gardens.

Emerald green looks incredible in satin and velvet, making it a great choice for bridesmaid dresses, groomswear, tablescapes and ceremony set up. Adding a few gold accents will bring out the richness of the green and make the colour palette feel more luxe.
While these colour schemes are looking popular for 2025, there are plenty of other stunning colours to use in your wedding. And it really does come down to your own personal preference.
