A new refurbished barn wedding venue near Glasgow set the scene for a fashion-forward editorial shoot
Barns have evolved far beyond tractors and hay bales, and Barraston Farm – a brand-new barn wedding venue in the rolling countryside north of Glasgow – proves just how modern a barn wedding can be.
The freshly refurbished space blends rustic appeal with contemporary comfort, offering couples exclusive use, flexible styling opportunities and pretty grounds that photograph well.

- Paved courtyard with space for over 150
- Vaulted ceilings and exposed timber beams
- Proper heating and air-conditioning for all seasons
- Custom mood lighting
- A statement chandelier
- Interior-designed accommodation for up to 16 people
A Glasgow barn venue with gardens and courtyard
Step outside the barn and the venue opens into a series of picturesque locations perfect for ceremonies, photos or mingling.
The paved courtyard can accommodate over 150 guests and can be covered with a stretch-roof marquee for weather protection (it is Scotland after all). Beyond that, landscaped gardens and a pond with a stone fountain offer a tranquil setting, where ducks, geese and peacocks roam freely.
How much do weddings at Barraston Farm cost?
The 'Bare Hire Package' is priced from £8,000.

- Access to the barn, courtyard, gardens and accommodation
- Freedom to bring in your preferred suppliers
Couples can also choose to add support (as an optional extra) from the venue’s well-connected in-house weddings and events team if they’d prefer guidance with planning or coordination.
A styled shoot that showcases Barraston Farm
To celebrate the venue’s launch, a team of Scottish wedding creatives, led by makeup artist Stephanie Ferry, carried out Barraston Farm’s first editorial shoot.
The result highlights how the venue’s mix of indoor and outdoor settings supports both modern and romantic aesthetics.
How to decorate a blank-canvas barn wedding venue
Stephanie drew inspiration from soft, watercolour tones, creating makeup that felt luminous, blended and quietly elegant.
From the barn’s teal wall panelling to the garden pathways and even the goat pen (which the model bravely stepped into bouquet in hand), every corner of the venue proved photogenic and versatile.
“Barraston Farm’s owner Clare Dunn has created the most gorgeous venue – chic decor, sweeping countryside views, and farm animals that added unexpected charm," says Stephanie.
