Pizza, sunshine, a walled garden ceremony, an impromptu cartwheel competition and a packed ceilidh made Holly and Jared’s Byre at Inchyra wedding feel like one long weekend celebration

Holly Ballantine and Jared Turner married at Perthshire wedding venue The Byre at Inchyra in on 10th May 2025, celebrating with 85 guests. Their relaxed spring wedding made the most of the venue’s historic barn, walled garden and estate accommodation, with pastel flowers, long-table dining and plenty of time outdoors in the sunshine.

Finding their Perthshire wedding venue

For Holly and Jared, choosing The Byre at Inchyra was one of the simplest parts of the planning process.

“Choosing our venue was probably the easiest decision we made,” smiles the bride. “Jared is Australian and loves Scotland. His dream was to get married somewhere with history and character, while I wanted a place that felt relaxed, beautiful and exclusive without being overly formal. The Byre at Inchyra struck the perfect balance. From the moment we saw it, we knew it was special.”

The venue team also helped the couple relax into the weekend rather than worry about logistics.

“Jake, Chris and Tim worked quietly behind the scenes, coordinating suppliers, lighting candles and keeping everything running perfectly. Their experience, attention to detail and calm reassurance allowed us to be completely present.”

Rustic wedding styling inspired by the Perthshire setting

The couple took their styling cues from the venue and surrounding countryside.

“We leaned into The Byre’s rustic charm with soft pastel colours, country garden flowers, natural textures and beautiful rattan furniture,” says Holly. “We wanted it to feel elegant, relaxed and welcoming, but not overly polished or too formal.”

The celebrations actually began the night before, with pizza, drinks and sunshine for close family and friends staying in the cottage on the estate.

An outdoor wedding ceremony in the walled garden

With temperatures reaching 25ºC, Holly and Jared were able to hold their ceremony in the historic walled garden, their first-choice location.

“Walking through the natural apple blossom archway towards Jared was a surreal moment. It was peaceful, intimate and incredibly emotional,” says the bride.

They shared a traditional quaich filled with whisky during the ceremony, while their Welsh terrier Rosie also had an important role.

“One of our favourite moments, though, was including our Welsh terrier, Rosie, who proudly walked down the aisle with my mum and completely stole the show.”

Cocktails, cartwheels and an extended drinks reception

The sunshine meant nobody was in a hurry to head indoors after the ceremony.

“We all spent hours in the walled garden enjoying cocktails and having a spontaneous cartwheel competition,” smiles Holly.

Guests later moved into the barn, where exposed stone walls and timber detailing formed the backdrop for dinner.

“Dinner was served on two long banqueting tables beneath twinkling lights,” says Holly. “We loved sitting with everyone rather than at a traditional top table, as it meant we could properly soak up the atmosphere.”

A ceilidh to finish the celebrations

Once dinner was over, the dancefloor quickly filled.

“Watching more than 60 non-Scottish guests attempt a ceilidh for the first time was hilarious,” laughs the bride. “Mixing traditional dancing with modern music meant the dancefloor was never empty.

“Our day was everything we had dreamed of – relaxed, full of love and surrounded by incredible people. We wouldn’t change a thing.”
