This couple brought Mexican vibes – and lots of tequila! – to their cocktail-filled, sun-drenched, dance-your-socks off extravaganza in St Andrews
Set at one of Fife's most popular barn wedding venues, Hayleigh and Logan Kinkell Byre wedding in St Andrews was a colourful celebration inspired by the couple's time living and working in Mexico.
With tequila cocktails, vibrant flowers, an outdoor orchard ceremony and a packed dancefloor, their summer wedding delivered sunshine, personality and party atmosphere in equal measure.

A unique way to 'guarantee' sunshine on your wedding day
Hayleigh and Logan had already chosen Kinkell Byre when Hayleigh decided to take an unusual approach to selecting their wedding date.
"The two of us were working at Cameron Bridge distillery in Fife at that point, and we'd already earmarked Kinkell Byre at nearby St Andrews as our venue," she explains.
"There's a weathervane at the distillery, so I pulled out 10 years' worth of data from it and plotted it out month by month to see what date was most likely to have the fairest weather."

The gamble paid off. After two years of insisting they wouldn't need a wet-weather Plan B, the sun arrived and stayed all day. "Everyone was sunburnt by dinner that night!" laughs Hayleigh.
A colourful Mexican-inspired wedding in St Andrews
The wedding's "super-colourful Mexican fiesta meets disco fever" aesthetic reflected the couple's two-and-a-half years living in Mexico while working on new tequila distilleries for drinks company Diageo.
Naturally, cocktails were a major feature. To keep costs manageable for their 99 guests, they served pre-mixed cocktails from Black Lines, complete with homemade garnishes prepared the day before.
"We even said cheers with a paloma at the top of the aisle during the ceremony."

The outdoor ceremony took place in Kinkell Byre's orchard, framed by bold pink and red flowers from Fruit Salad Flowers.
Hayleigh walked down the aisle to 'Coming Home' by A-Trak and Ferreck Dawn, while celebrant Craig Flowers from Independent Humanist Ceremonies helped create a relaxed atmosphere.
"Honestly, I've never felt as relaxed as I did during the ceremony. Logan and I just laughed as if no one was there. The energy was high – exactly what we wanted."
DIY wedding decor and colourful styling
Planning from Mexico meant the couple relied heavily on wedding planner Steph Chen Events.
"Being able to just bounce ideas off her, even with the time difference, was invaluable," says Hayleigh. "She knew us and our wedding inside out."

The wedding decor was filled with personal touches. Hayleigh's mum helped create ribbons, streamers and piñatas, while a graphic designer the couple met in a bar in Guadalajara designed all of the signage.
The colour palette featured red, orange, pink, lilac and lemon. One standout detail was an interactive table plan inspired by Día de los Muertos, made up of paper marigold flowers, each displaying a guest's name and table number.
Food, entertainment and a packed Kinkell Byre dancefloor
Following a seaside cocktail reception soundtracked by disco, soul and techno, guests enjoyed a Mediterranean-inspired feast from Lazy Sunday Catering featuring smoky baba ganoush, beetroot hummus and spiced lamb shoulder.
One of the day's biggest surprises came courtesy of singing waiters Singers Secreto.
"They came on between the main and the dessert and, oh my god, did that go down well! Such a laugh. It was one of my favourite parts of the day."
Later, guests moved into Kinkell Byre's long hall for the evening party.
"Euan at Tartan Entertainment suggested we use the long hall at Kinkell Byre for the party, which kept everyone condensed and in one place to get that proper high-energy, clubby feel."
Post-wedding party ideas
The following day, guests returned with deckchairs for a barbecue, drinks and another full day of celebrations.
"The whole weekend felt like a performance of the best kind. It felt like we were the stars of the show and surrounded by love and happiness."
Bride's top tip
"If you're undecided about booking a videographer, I'd say don't hesitate – especially if they're as brilliant as Georgia at Electric Reel. Her work flips 'traditional' wedding videos on their head – ours felt like we were watching a music video." (see trailer below)
