Where can I have a humanist wedding ceremony?

Anywhere! Independent Humanist Ceremonies are authorised by the Registrar General for Scotland to conduct legal ceremonies anywhere in Scotland.

How long before our wedding should we book our celebrant?

Once you have booked your venue, Independent Humanist Ceremonies suggest giving as much notice as possible by booking your humanist at the same time.

As the weekends, especially during summer, are incredibly busy – it’s important to get in touch early to avoid disappointment.

How much does an Independent Humanist Ceremonies celebrant cost?

The fee for wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships is £500. A £100 booking fee is payable upon meeting your celebrant, with the remaining balance being payable 28 days prior to your ceremony. 

Can we personalise the content of our ceremony?

Yes, Independent Humanist Ceremonies are more flexible than most humanist organisations when it comes to your ceremony's content. 

Your celebrant will work closely with you to create a ceremony that expertly captures your love story.
