A meaningful date and chance meeting

Some dates have a certain magic. That’s how it was when Lewis and Victoria had the chance to marry on 25th May 2025. “It looked good written down – 25/5/25 – and it’s my granny’s birthday,” laughs the bride. “That was reason enough for me!”

Their story began in the most unexpected setting: the hairdressers. “He was a junior at the salon and fixed my towel for me,” recalls Victoria. “A few weeks later, he followed me on Instagram. He knew my mum better than me at that point because she was in the salon more often!”

Five years later, Lewis proposed at sunset in Florida. “It was 18th September 2023 and we were on the beautiful Anna Maria Island,” says Victoria.

“We started planning the wedding almost as soon as we got home.”

Choosing Mansfield Traquair for their Edinburgh wedding

Lewis discovered Mansfield Traquair via Instagram, and the pair booked it immediately. “As soon as we walked in, we got goosebumps. We booked instantly without looking anywhere else. It just felt right.”

The city’s iconic former church, with its pillars, stained glass and historic murals, provided the perfect backdrop for their elegant celebration.

With 130 guests, including family travelling from Hong Kong, the USA and Australia, the ceremony was led by Margaret Mazzone of Caledonian Humanist Association.

“She was the only one we reached out to… we trusted Margaret to make our ceremony personal, and she delivered.”

Victoria honoured tradition by entering with her veil covering her face.

“I walked up the aisle with my veil over my face. My granny really wanted me to do that.”

Oriental-inspired wedding styling

The styling vision was clear: “We were aiming for classic, timeless, elegant style,” says Victoria. Jordana Events and Weddings executed the look with dark pink cymbidium orchids for added drama. “Jordana just got the vibe we were going for and made it chic and special.”

Oriental influences reflected Victoria’s Hong Kong heritage, seen in stationery, fan favours and the bridesmaids’ black cheongsam dresses. Lewis wore a custom Suited & Booted suit.

“They stitched Lewis’s initials into his jacket, along with our wedding date and his lucky number 17. Even his shirt had embroidery.”

Victoria’s customised Pronovias gown from Opus Couture featured a dramatic bow and extended tails.

For the evening, she changed into a Nadine Merabi fringed mini dress with cowboy boots and a hat from Nashville. “I’d gone there for a mini hen, so the outfit had a story behind it.”

Ceremony, dinner and live entertainment

Walking down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, performed by Capella String Quartet, Victoria described the moment as unforgettable.

“Being walked down the aisle by my dad was such a fairytale moment, and one I’ll never forget.”

Dinner included curried king prawn, roast chicken pie and mash, followed by chocolate popcorn delice. Wireless ensured the dancefloor stayed full as evening guests joined the celebration.

“We had our first dance to ‘Spin You Around’ by Morgan Wallen, and the band nailed it.”

The couple advise future brides and grooms to stay organised. “We should have kept one master checklist… and I wish I’d written down a list of photo groupings.” Still, Victoria wouldn’t change a thing: “It was the most incredible day. Everything was perfect!”
