Highland cows for weddings in Scotland
Harris Highlanders provides up to two hours with its highland cows at weddings, giving couples and guests the chance to meet them, take photos and enjoy a relaxed interactive experience.
The cows can be part of guest arrivals, drinks receptions, photography moments or selected ceremony elements. At some weddings, they have even acted as ring bearers, adding a personal and distinctly Scottish detail to the ceremony.
Guests can meet the cows up close and, where suitable, gently brush them under the supervision of the Harris Highlanders team.

Awards and experience
Harris Highlanders takes pride in its herd of prize-winning highland cattle. The cows attend agricultural shows throughout the year, including the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, reflecting the high standards of care, welfare and presentation maintained by the team.
Areas covered
Based in the Scottish Borders, Harris Highlanders covers the majority of Scotland.
Please note: Due to the current Bluetongue restrictions and in the interest of animal welfare, weddings in England cannot currently be accommodated.
Venue requirements
Venue requirements for Harris Highlanders’ cows are simple and are discussed with each venue in advance.
Requirements include:
• Suitable parking for the vehicle and trailer
• Approximately 2–3 parking spaces for loading and unloading
• Access to a water supply as a precaution
Where venues prefer the highland cows not to stand on grassed areas, rubber matting can be provided. The team always ensures the area is left clean and tidy before departure.
Safety and welfare
Animal welfare and guest safety are the main priorities at every Harris Highlanders wedding.
The team provides guidance before guest interactions begin and remains on hand throughout the experience. Hand sanitiser is also provided before and after guests meet the cows to help maintain good hygiene standards.
Special requests are welcome where possible, but all decisions are made with the comfort, safety and wellbeing of the cows in mind.
