The Wedding Shop opens first Scottish showroom in Edinburgh

An online gift registry offers convenience, but there’s something to be said for the tactile experience of IRL shopping, as well as the benefits of having some one-to-one advice from an advisor. The Wedding Shop now provides the best of both worlds as it has made its first foray north of the border with a new showroom on Edinburgh’s Dundas Street.

We headed to the opening night to browse the extensive and carefully curated selection of gifts from brands like Le Creuset, The White Company and Sonos. The New Town two-storey space now joins the company’s other locations in London (in Chelsea and within Selfridges) and Dublin.

Compiling a gift list in-store can often involve fighting through throngs of Saturday shoppers, but at The Wedding Store products are merchandised impeccably to maximise inspiration – often in situ in the basement kitchen and bathroom set ups. We hear that couples can even start to dress tables with cutlery and crockery as they assemble their wishlist of products that’ll turn their house into a home.

So, what made it on to our fictional lists? Editor Beth spotted the Sardine Run Jersey Pottery collection she’d had her eye on for a white, whilst online editor Sarah had to refrain from wrapping herself up in the softest India Jane Wainscott cotton throw. Both were in agreement that a Richard Bramble lobster oval platter would be one of their top picks.

Showroom manager Nicola Gemmell said: “Established for over 26 years, The Wedding Shop is the original bespoke gift list registry in the UK. I look forward to welcoming couples to our inspiring space and helping them choose from our portfolio of thousands of products.” Even better, you can mix and match your gifts – so there’s the option to pick out a couple of special pieces for your living room or kitchen and then request other guests contribute towards honeymoon funds, cash contributions or even experiences.

The Wedding Shop’s new showroom is located at 25a Dundas Street, Edinburgh, 0131 558 7755. For further information or to book a consultation email
