Dating back to 1844, Citation's rich history breathes life into its vibrant and rustic charm. Originally the Sheriff Court building designed by Clarke & Bell in the mid-19th century, Citation has retained its breathtaking features through a careful redevelopment 160 years later. Sandstone columns frame the prominent B-listed exterior, dressed in fairy lights that delicately illuminate a picture-perfect atmosphere.

The Merchant Suite

Spread over a large open-plan first floor area, The Merchant Suite is warm, welcoming, and picturesque. The original features of the building have been retained, exposing blonde sandstone walls to give your photographs a timeless characteristic backdrop. The Merchant Suite is dressed to perfection for the ceremony, and as drinks and photographs follow, the team will transform the space for your meal.

The Taverne Bar

Featuring ample seating, private booths and atmospheric lighting, The Taverne Bar is the perfect area for welcoming your guests and after your ceremony. Later in the day this area will be transformed into your evening reception area. The mood-lit dance floor brings the evening into the heart of our venue, allowing you and your guests to party the night away.

The Balcony

Nestled amidst Citation’s towering columns is Glasgow’s most iconic, yet understated terrace. The Balcony, which overlooks the beautiful Merchant City, is perfect for those fairytale photographs in front of our grand, delicately lit sandstone columns. Fully heated all year round, this area is an intimately informal breakaway space for your guests throughout the day.
