Yes. The Exchange only hosts one wedding per day, giving couples privacy for their celebration. The exact spaces included depend on the chosen wedding package, with full venue exclusivity subject to package terms and minimum guest numbers.

There is no accommodation at The Exchange itself, but its Royal Exchange Square location puts guests within walking distance of a wide selection of Glasgow city-centre hotels.

The venue can provide details of partner hotels, with preferential rates available at selected properties, including options with overnight parking. Glasgow Queen Street station, Glasgow Central station and Buchanan Bus Station are also within easy walking distance.

The Gallery
The main ceremony and wedding breakfast space has capacity for up to 140 guests and features a 75-foot aisle, hand-carved Italian marble fireplace, modern chandeliers, tall windows and views across Royal Exchange Square towards the Gallery of Modern Art. After the ceremony, the room can be transformed for dinner.

The Exchange Bar
Located beside The Gallery, this dedicated bar provides space for pre-ceremony drinks and the post-ceremony reception, with a fully stocked bar serving cocktails, wine and draught beer.

The Print Room and Terrace
The evening reception space holds up to 200 guests and retains features from its former life as McCormick Printers, including exposed sandstone walls and a hand-painted vaulted ceiling. There is a dancefloor, DJ booth, disco ball, space for a live band and a hidden private outdoor terrace.

The Parlour
Available for wedding preparations, The Parlour has vanity stations, beautician's chairs, changing rooms, four en-suite bathrooms, full-length mirrors and its own mini-bar. This includes ceremony hire, post-ceremony drinks and canapés, a three-course wedding breakfast, wine with dinner, champagne for the toast, tea and coffee, evening buffet and professional DJ.

Twilight wedding package

From £12,500 for 100 guests from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028 and £13,500 for 100 guests from 1 April 2028 to 31 March 2029.

Based around a 5pm ceremony, the package includes use of The Gallery and Exchange Bar for the ceremony and drinks reception, followed by an evening reception in The Print Room and outdoor terrace until 2am. Drinks, canapés, a five-item finger-food buffet and professional DJ are included.

Evening receptions

Couples who want to skip the traditional wedding-day format can also book an evening-only reception in The Print Room and terrace. The 2027–28 price is £6,500 for 100 guests, including arrival drinks, a five-item finger-food buffet and professional DJ.

Bespoke packages are also available, allowing individual elements and services to be tailored to the couple's plans.

Wedding catering is provided in-house, with menus built around fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Couples are invited for a pre-wedding tasting before choosing their dishes.

Options include canapés, three- or four-course wedding breakfasts and evening buffets, with the option to extend dinner to five courses. The menu includes meat, fish and plant-based choices, and dietary requirements including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free diets can be catered for.


Citation, Merchant City

Set in Glasgow’s historic Merchant City, Citation is an exclusive-use wedding venue in one of the city’s most distinctive sandstone buildings. Its grand exterior, towering columns and original architectural details provide excellent photo opportunities, while the interiors offer flexible spaces for ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations.

Couples have exclusive use of the entire venue on their wedding day, with celebrations moving between the bright and airy Merchant Suite, atmospheric Taverne Bar and heated private balcony overlooking Merchant City.

Citation can accommodate:

The Merchant Suite

The main ceremony and wedding breakfast space is located across Citation’s open-plan first floor. Natural light, exposed blonde sandstone walls and original architectural details give the room plenty of character without restricting how couples can style it.

The Merchant Suite is dressed for the ceremony before being discreetly transformed for the wedding breakfast while guests enjoy drinks and photographs elsewhere in the venue. It also has its own fully stocked private bar, air conditioning, microphones, ceiling-mounted projectors and screens, dedicated bathrooms and access to the heated private terrace.

The Taverne Bar

The Taverne Bar provides a relaxed arrival space before the ceremony and somewhere for guests to gather during photographs afterwards. Later, it becomes the evening reception space, with a DJ box, dancefloor, integrated sound system, colour-changing lighting, grand piano and private bar.

The Balcony

For couples seeking a more intimate experience, Crossbasket Castle’s exclusive-use package ensures couples and their guests have the entire castle to themselves.

Designed by renowned architect William Young, the City Chambers offers a truly majestic setting for your ceremony. As your guests step into the building, they’ll be welcomed by the grand reception hall featuring Europe’s largest marble staircase – a breathtaking backdrop for your special day.

Couples can choose between two stunning ceremony rooms: the Satinwood Suite or the Banqueting Hall.

Crafted from rare, now extinct Satinwood, the suite features impressive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the iconic George Square. Ornate wood carvings and the striking Alabaster fireplace only add to the grandeur, leaving your guests in awe. 

The opulent Banqueting Hall, ideal for larger ceremonies, boasts a Victorian architecture style with hand-painted gold leaf. The breathtakingly vast hall also features stained glass windows, three ornate chandeliers, and each wall is adorned with classical paintings depicting the city's heritage.

Ceremonies are available here on Saturdays, Sundays and most public holidays except from Christmas, New Year and Easter Sunday. Bookings can be made up to one year in advance of your ceremony.

23 Montrose Street is located on the east side of the City Chambers complex. It is ideal for smaller groups and offers two ceremony suites – The Clyde and The Kelvin.

The Clyde Suite is the most intimate room and is usually the prime choice for smaller ceremonies with rich woodwork features and a sleek design. The Kelvin Suite is flooded with natural light and is the perfect historic and modern elements. The warm room is tastefully decorated with neutral tones and features chandeliers that illuminate the central aisle.

The venue includes a dressing room, a reception area for guests, and a private room for the registrar to meet with couples before their ceremony.

Ceremonies are available at 23 Montrose Street from Monday to Saturday, and bookings can be made up to two years in advance.

At 23 Montrose St there are two ceremony rooms:

  • The Clyde Suite holds 17 people (this includes the couple) 

  • The Kelvin Suite holds 35 people (this includes the couple). 

In the City Chambers, there are also two options:

  • The Satinwood Suite which holds up to 100 guests

While Glasgow Registrars does not offer on-site accommodation, all ceremony suites are located in the heart of the city centre, surrounded by a wide selection of hotels to suit every style and budget.
