Wedding meal on a budget, anyone? McDonald’s has created a low-key and low-cost catering option for weddings

When you picture yourself enjoying your wedding meal surrounded by your guests, you probably don’t imagine cheersing with chicken nuggets and passing the ketchup along the top table. But if that does sound like a dream come true, McDonald’s has launched a new wedding package.

At the moment, the package is only available in Jakarta, Indonesia, but there’s talk of rolling out the offering to other countries if there’s a good response. Fingers crossed!

Offering catering on a budget, McDonald’s lovers can enjoy the food chain’s burgers and chicken as their wedding meal for under £200.

In the new package, couples can choose either 100 chicken burgers and 100 boxes of Chicken McNuggets or 100 cheeseburgers and 100 chicken fingers.

This wedding catering package only includes food, but Rizki Haryadi from McDonald’s Indonesia, told The Sun: “There are other service options as well, where we can also provide food stalls at an additional cost.

“The wedding package is not for holding a wedding at a McD store, but only for food, such as catering with prices starting from £185 with a minimum purchase of 200 products.”

As for couples who would like to actually get married in a McDonald’s restaurant, it could well become a wedding venue option in the future, as it’s already set up in Hong Kong.

According to The Sun, couples in Hong Kong are able to book the ‘Happiness Party’ which gives them hire of the venue for two hours, use of audio equipment, £100 worth of food, decorations, invitations, balloons and a tier of apple pies! The whole thing costs £300, with other optional add-ons available, which seems like a bargain.

According to Hitched, in 2022 the average couple spent £18,400 on their wedding. So, it’s no surprise that brides and grooms-to-be are looking for ways to cut down their wedding costs.

That price included spending around £70 per person for catering, so even without a set McDonald’s catering package, you could (depending on your venue) put together your own menu. Order in burgers and nuggets for everyone to live out your McDonald’s wedding dreams, and save a bit of cash in the process.
