Once part of Europe’s largest open-air market, the venue is now a creative hub for food, drink and events, with weddings becoming a key part of its offering. The result is a setting that feels both rooted in Glasgow’s history and perfectly suited to modern celebrations.

“BAaD is essentially a blank canvas,” explains wedding manager, Jess Thompson.

“We provide the essentials – furniture, crockery, glassware, staffing and security – and couples can build their day from there.”

Ceremony and reception spaces at BAaD

BAaD offers a choice of flexible spaces that can be tailored to suit different wedding styles and guest numbers.

The main courtyard is the focal point of the venue. Flooded with natural light through its glass roof, it creates a bright, open setting for both ceremonies and receptions. For more intimate gatherings, the mezzanine level overlooks the courtyard and provides a smaller, more contained space.

Wedding spaces at a glance:

  • Courtyard – ceremonies and receptions for up to 250 seated guests
  • Mezzanine – ideal for smaller ceremonies (20 seated / 30 standing)
  • Full venue hire – available for exclusive use

Curtaining can be used to section off the courtyard, creating a more intimate atmosphere for smaller weddings without losing the impact of the space.

Outdoor wedding space: BAaD Backyard

For couples looking to incorporate an outdoor element, BAaD Backyard is available as an add-on to any package.

Constructed from repurposed shipping containers, the space features bold, colourful artwork and a large abstract mural, offering a striking contrast to the industrial courtyard. It’s a popular choice for drinks receptions and photography, adding variety to the day’s setting.

Wedding packages and catering at BAaD

BAaD offers three wedding packages designed to simplify planning while allowing flexibility. All include lighting, a set menu, PA system, menu tasting, a dedicated wedding manager and an anniversary dinner at a Superlative Collection restaurant in Glasgow.

Packages start from £75 per person, with venue hire added separately.

Catering is provided in-house by the venue’s kitchen team, with a wide range of menu styles available.

Catering options include:

  • Three-course wedding breakfast
  • Sharing-style banquet menus
  • Street food or barbecue options
  • Evening food such as filled rolls, buffets or pies
  • Glasgow-inspired additions including donuts and Irn-Bru
  • Menus can be tailored to reflect the couple’s preferences, creating a dining experience that feels personal to the day.

Styling a blank canvas wedding at BAaD

One of BAaD’s biggest strengths is its flexibility. The space can be styled in a minimal way, allowing the industrial features to stand out, or completely transformed with bold colour, lighting and décor.

From statement installations to relaxed, pared-back setups, the venue works across a wide range of wedding styles. The combination of natural light, open space and existing features such as murals and lighting makes it particularly strong for photography.

Why couples choose BAaD for their wedding

BAaD stands out for its versatility and personality. The blank canvas approach allows couples to create a wedding that feels completely their own, whether that’s a large-scale celebration or a smaller, more intimate gathering.

The space lends itself particularly well to party-led weddings, but can be easily adapted to suit a more relaxed or understated style.

With its central Glasgow location, distinctive industrial setting and flexible approach, BAaD offers a wedding venue that feels both creative and considered – ideal for couples looking to do something a little different.
