London-based couple Mrs & Mrs Nasir–Finlayson invited 118 guests to see them tie the knot in the Kingdom of Fife on 6th July 2024
Fife wedding venue Cambo Country House and Estate hosted these two brides who opted for custom-made bridal outfits from Gillian Million Bridal Shop and The White Room UK.
They poured their hearts into creating a meaningful humanist wedding ceremony which took place indoors after the rain scuppered their plans for an outdoor wedding.
Photographer Iris Art was on hand to capture all the details from their three-day-long celebrations, including beautiful flowers and Cambo Estate's walled garden.

After a chance encounter at work, Sara and Morgan’s futures were forever intertwined.
“My boss gave me a project and jokingly told me to charm the person who’d sent it into giving us an extension. And the rest, as they say, is history,” laughs Morgan.
“We were on a camping trip to Scotland when Sara surprised me by proposing. Ever since then, Scotland has become a really special place for us.”

Outdoor wedding spaces at Cambo Estate
The couple share a love for nature and being outdoors, so when they discovered Cambo Estate, which boasts around 1,200 acres, it felt like the ideal place for them to say ‘I do’.
“The first thing that made us say yes to Cambo was its outdoor spaces,” agrees Sara.
“There’s a beautiful garden and so many woodland walks, and I loved that there was the option to have the ceremony outdoors. There are also lots of cosy nooks that make the place feel homely. We fell completely in love."

Cambo House wedding coordinator
“Joanne, our wedding coordinator, was a huge selling point too. We were planning things from our home in London and she made sure we felt at ease at every step and even helped us source local suppliers.”
Another testament to Joanne’s exceptional service was how she handled a last-minute change of plan. “At 11am on our wedding day, we had to move the location of our ceremony. It was originally meant to be outdoors but because it was so wet and windy, we had to make a final call for it to be inside.
“Joanne held off as long as possible before putting the back-up plan into action. We said our vows in the library, and the energy was amazing. We still had stunning outdoor views, and our families worked really hard on our floral decorations to bring nature indoors.”

Weekend weddings at Cambo House
Eager to make the most of their trip to Scotland, the couple hired Cambo House for three days.
“Our wedding was on Saturday but we set things up on the Friday. Extending our celebrations through to Sunday gave us more time to spend with our families.
“On the wedding morning, we got ready separately, but had walkie-talkies to keep in touch – the stone walls of the house stopped any mobile phone signal!"
Reasons to have a humanist wedding in Scotland
Another reason the pair were captured by Scotland was the freedom to have a humanist wedding.
“Kendal from Humanist Society Scotland completely put us at ease – and we were won over by the fact she had an ‘emergency wedding kit’. We had a handfasting ritual, and our guests told us how personal and meaningful the ceremony was too,” recalls Morgan.
“I just about held it together when Sara walked down the aisle – she looked beautiful.

Unique custom-made bridal outfits
Both brides, in fact, wore breathtaking outfits (“Morgan was like an Abba rock-star,” Sara laughs) that perfectly complemented one other.
“My dress was handmade, as was my veil, which was created using upcycled silk. Sustainability was really important to me,” explains Sara.
“I wore a jumpsuit made from the material of my mum’s wedding dress,” says Morgan. “I then added a cape, and it suited the style perfectly.”

After their ‘I dos’, the pair took advantage of a small window of sunshine to head to the walled garden and covered courtyard for photos.
Dinner and emotional speeches soon followed, before a wild night on the dancefloor.
“Our ceilidh band were fantastic – think traditional dances but to music like ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ by Muse. It’s a day we’ll never forget.”
