This wedding content creator bride had a small Glasgow ceremony followed by a relaxed Ibiza destination wedding at Can Rafal – two celebrations, one personal approach
This Glasgow and Ibiza destination wedding combined an intimate city ceremony with a relaxed villa celebration abroad. Georgia and Stephen legally married in Glasgow before hosting a multi-day wedding at Can Rafal in Ibiza, creating a wedding that balanced family, travel and a laid-back party atmosphere.

A Glasgow ceremony and Ibiza destination wedding
It was a wedding split across two locations for Georgia and Stephen, who chose a small legal ceremony in Glasgow followed by a destination wedding in Ibiza.
“The idea of a large traditional wedding at home never felt quite right,” explains Georgia, who runs Glasgow-based wedding content creator The Event Edition.
“I can get quite anxious and Stephen isn’t keen on being in the limelight.”
Rather than hosting a large Scottish wedding, the couple opted for a more relaxed approach. “At a wedding abroad, everyone can completely unwind and let their hair down for a few days. The lure of sunshine helps too, of course!”

Georgia is quick to point out that destination weddings aren’t always more affordable.
“Before you book anything, make sure you fully understand all that’s involved… We ended up spending almost double what we’d initially budgeted.”
Choosing Can Rafal for an Ibiza wedding
Having got engaged in Ibiza, the couple knew it was the right place for their wedding abroad. With 60 guests travelling out, they worked with Hidden Treasures Ibiza to find the right venue.
“We viewed five options… but not the one we picked in the end,” Georgia says. “It was only later that our wedding planner Lauren sent me pictures and videos of Can Rafal villa, and we booked it on a whim.”
Arriving at the villa for the first time was a standout moment.
“The surprise element was incredible. I was a bit emotional.”
The celebrations stretched across several days, including hen and stag events, a club night at Circoloco and a pre-wedding dinner at Hotel Riomar.
A relaxed Ibiza wedding day at the villa
The wedding at Can Rafal was designed to feel informal and social, with food and music at the centre of the day.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed Spanish sharing platters, barbecued food and desserts. “It was relaxed and interactive, which our guests seemed to love.”
One of the more personal touches came with the cake. “I wanted our two nephews and niece to be kept entertained so they went rogue decorating a cake bought from the local supermarket.”
The party continued into the evening with a DJ set. Due to local noise regulations, celebrations moved indoors at 10pm. “We put up a disco ball and it felt like our own club night.”
Ibiza styling and wedding details
The Ibiza wedding styling focused on greenery, warm neutrals, stripes and pearl details. “I love plants, and I thought the stripes would be modern and fun against the rusticity of the villa.”
Georgia wore a bespoke long-sleeved lace gown by Carolyn Baxter Bridal. “We went on a journey to create my perfect dress at her new Glasgow atelier – her attention to detail is outstanding.”
Georgia changed into a second Carolyn Baxter dress for the dancefloor. “I knew it would get hot and I wanted to be comfortable.”

The ceremony itself was one of the most memorable parts of the day. “Stephen tells me every day that he loves me… so it was pretty special for him to be serious for a few minutes when he was doing his vows.”
Despite late nights, the celebrations didn’t stop after the wedding. The couple hosted a BBQ pool party the next day, followed by a boat trip to Formentera.
“Making more memories and having more fun.”
A small Glasgow wedding ceremony
Before Ibiza, the couple held a Catholic ceremony at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Glasgow with just 13 guests. “By getting married in Glasgow, Stephen’s little Granny Mary could be there.”
The day continued with a relaxed celebration across the city. “We hopped on the subway over to La Lanterna, then on to a few bars. It was relaxed and casual, exactly as we’d hoped.”
Georgia wore a Sinead Keary two-piece, while Stephen opted for a By Jake Hall suit. “It was super-chilled – we even shared a black cab to the church.”
