Sarah and John’s city-centre Glasgow wedding at The Exchange was stylish, personal and packed with energy from the moment guests arrived.

The couple chose the private-feeling Glasgow wedding venue for its classic interiors, upstairs bridal prep room and party-ready atmosphere, then filled the day with white flowers, green foliage, live music, a relaxed ceremony and a dancefloor crowd that was ready to go all night.

A fun city-centre Glasgow wedding at The Exchange

Live music, big laughs and a dancefloor-ready crowd: Sarah and John’s wedding was upbeat and fun from the moment their guests arrived.

“We always knew we wanted a city-centre wedding,” the bride tells us, “and the minute we walked into The Exchange we could see it was meant for us.

“The funny thing is, we had actually visited the place when it was still a building site – hard hats and all. Seeing it the second time, all finished, sealed the deal. We just fell in love with the vibe.

"Even though the venue is in the heart of the city, it still feels completely private.

"The Parlour, the upstairs bridal prep room, was a huge selling point for me too.”

Wedding packages available at The Exchange

Leaning into The Exchange’s classic, timeless style, Sarah and John – who are parents to sons Jack and Charlie – opted for a mix of cream and green foliage during the day, then went “full party” at night.

One thing was certain, though: nothing about this wedding would be “too traditional”.

“We decided not to do any of the formal stuff like cutting a cake, official speeches or a first dance. Instead, our day was a total reflection of our personalities.”

The Exchange’s generous package was a huge plus for the happy couple too, which included food and wine, a wedding coordinator and stationery.

But they made sure to add their own personal stamp when it came to their incredible suppliers.

Picking local wedding suppliers in Glasgow

“My background is in events,” says Sarah, “and all the suppliers at our wedding were people I’d worked with over the years. I knew I could trust them – and they more than delivered.

"Our wedding singer Franchesqua, in particular, was incredible.

"I told her on the morning of the wedding the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to – and she learned it there and then!

“The party started the minute people entered the building. That was so important to me and to John – we wanted to set the tone right away.”

Before things got underway, Sarah made the most of the Parlour, inviting her closest friends upstairs for a glass of fizz to settle any pre-wedding nerves.

“We got the music playing and, by the time I headed downstairs, I felt so calm. I was even on time for once!”

A personal ceremony with live music and plenty of laughs

That energy continued with celebrant Anna Burnside leading an “informal but personal” ceremony that kept everyone laughing.

“People were singing along when I got there,” the bride smiles.

“I was hugging people while I walked down the aisle – I can’t explain just how excited I was.

"The highlight for me was seeing John at the bottom of the aisle.

"My mum is sadly no longer with us, so I did get myself worried about how that part of the day was going to go in case I got emotional. But it was the happiest moment of my life.”

After unforgettable photos in the nearby Royal Exchange Square, it was time for dinner and dancing.

“The atmosphere was just electric – everyone was so happy. There were tears, laughter… it was just us.

“I need to mention Pauline, events and weddings manager at The Exchange. She deserves so much recognition that I’m going to nominate her for a Pride of Britain Award. She kept it all running smoothly.”
