Following in the footsteps of your parents is a beautiful thing. For many mums and dads, simply knowing their sons and daughters appreciate their favourite band from the ’80s is enough to fill them with delight.Or perhaps they’re proud their kids have followed them into the same profession, having been inspired by witnessing their parents’ career successes.
For bride Eva, it was her mum and dad’s love story that had a major influence on her. She chose to get married at the same venue they’d tied the knot in many years before: Ayrshire’s Trump Turnberry.
“I had always wanted to have my wedding at Turnberry,” she says with a smile. “The prospect of celebrating my special day at a place that holds such sentimental value and cherished family history is something I’ve always held close to my heart. I am also a marketing executive at Turnberry, so I have the inside scoop on the resort and all things wedding-related, so it was a no-brainer!”
She and Andrew had in mind a neutral backdrop that would allow their decor to do the talking. “We wanted something truly special for our big day. We envisaged a soft and romantic theme, with pink and lemon flower arrangements and a space full of natural light,” the bride recalls.
The couple made it official at Alloway Parish Church before heading to Turnberry with 100 of their nearest and dearest, determined to give their guests (some of whom had travelled from England and the Middle East) a full Scottish experience.
“One of the resort’s standout features is undoubtedly the breathtaking views of the Firth of Clyde and the surrounding landscape, all of which provided an enchanting backdrop for our wedding photographs,” remembers Eva. “The beautiful Caledonia Ballroom has a private terrace, which our guests loved – it was a wonderful opportunity for them to step outside and soak up the stunning surroundings.”
The pair say the day was meticulously arranged and expertly facilitated by Turnberry’s weddings team, who helped bring their plans to life. They had photos taken at the hotel’s iconic lighthouse and ended with an awe-inspiring fireworks display. Food, too, played a big role in the day, with the couple opting for some fun touches to their catering options.
“The Turnberry chefs worked closely with us to design a menu that featured an array of incredible flavours,” says Eva. “At the drinks reception, we served a selection of canapés that included mini fish and chips and tiny scones with jam and cream.”
She and Andrew went for the hotel’s ‘Happily Ever After’ package, which features elements such as a three-course wedding breakfast, drinks and a piper, and say the events team went above and beyond for them.
“Choosing Turnberry as our wedding venue was an easy decision,” Eva says. “It embodied everything we had imagined for our day and gave us an unparalleled experience that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
