“We just thought it would be fun and a little different to elope. I’ve worked in hospitality for ten years and I have seen a lot of weddings during this time, all of which have been lovely. But we wanted to do something different for our day.

It was relatively straightforward and stress-free – which was definitely another reason we opted for this kind of wedding. I found our amazing photographer Torie on Instagram and loved her style of pictures. After our initial call, we knew she was the person we wanted to go with. She just got the vision we had for our photos. I then went on to book the Little White Wedding Chapel and pick our package (we opted for the Elvis tribute, obviously). The next thing we did was go online to complete the legal stuff.

After the ceremony we headed out to the dry lake bed for some pictures, cake and champagne! We then drove our ’68 Chevelle to Fremont Street for more photos. We ended the night driving the car along the Strip, then went for pizza and some gambling before calling home to tell everyone the news! It really was the perfect day for us. We hadn’t told anyone – not even Rob’s sister who lives in the USA, and who we’d been staying with for a week before going to Vegas. We are both so lucky to have amazing parents and sisters who were just happy that we got to do what we wanted, how we wanted. I don’t think they’d have changed anything about it!

Our advice would be DO IT! Eloping is just the most fun and special way to get married.”

“Being a wedding and elopement photographer myself and seeing how magical, stress-free, enjoyable, raw and intimate elopements can be, made me want to do it. I just had to convince Casey! I didn’t have a planner going into my elopement. I took on the task of planning it all with excitement.

What really helped us tremendously was talking a lot with my photographer, Lyndsey, who is super-familiar with Scotland (and who has shot there several times). She gave us lots of vendor recommendations, such as our celebrant Paul Browett from Fuze Ceremonies and a florist in Edinburgh. I ended up going to LA with my best friend to try on a dress from Rue de Seine. That was so fun since we made a trip out of it together.

We got engaged in July and set off to Scotland at the end of the month. After we drove down from Skye, Casey, Lyndsey and I went to a restaurant, just the three of us. We had champagne and delicious food while calling family and close friends.

We ended up legalising our marriage at the court house in Las Vegas when we got back home. It was actually quite perfect since we ended up going to a Killers concert right afterwards to celebrate with two of our best friends!

Just elope. You may hurt a few feelings in the process, but it isn’t about anyone else – it’s about you and your soulmate. You will save so much money and get an amazing experience and trip out of it. Eloping was the best decision we ever made!”
