Finding a dream wedding dress in Dunfermline
"Chris is originally from near London and I’m from Jaén in southern Spain, but Scotland is now our home.
"We fell in love with the country on a trip there together, moved to Glasgow and, after a year there, bought our dream home in Kingseat, Dunfermline… And it turned out I’d find my dream wedding dress in Dunfermline too."
"Chris and I met just before Covid began, while working in operating theatres in Exeter.
"When the pandemic hit, we were redeployed to intensive care, looking after critically ill patients, and looking after each other too – the experience bonded us deeply.
"Fast forward three and a half years, and he proposed when we were visiting my home region of Jaén."

Planning a destination wedding in Spain from Scotland
"We knew we wanted to get married in Spain, so that very same week we were already looking for venues.
"I was a bit late shopping for my wedding dress but that’s because I had to focus on our on-site suppliers first – the ones I wanted are usually fully booked two years in advance!
"By the time I got round to thinking about my gown, we had sorted out nearly all our suppliers, including our reception venue. Vandelvira, in the town of Baeza, is known for its incredible food (it was awarded its first Michelin star soon after we booked).
"The building is a 16th-century monastery, so it boasts beautiful architecture and a romantic renaissance style too – which we intended to decorate with plenty of pastels."

Why I chose the Luna Novias Sivet ballgown
"With our wedding vision nearly in place, I could start thinking about dresses. Researching online, I came across Kudos Bridal in Dunfermline.
"I loved its social media, and colleagues had also recommended it.
"In terms of style, I was sure I wanted a ballgown with a long train and I knew I liked Rosa Clarà dresses. Even so, I went into my appointment in September last year with an open mind."
"Kudos was the only boutique I visited, and I said yes to the dress at my very first appointment. It was also my first time ever trying on bridalwear.
"My mum came with me – she had flown over from Spain to be there. Kudos owner Jackie was great.

"She gave me tags to choose dresses from the showroom like a treasure hunt – it felt like a game, and she made me feel so relaxed and special.
"I tried on seven gowns. The very first one made me emotional, but it was the third that truly stopped me in my tracks.
"When I looked in the mirror, I felt like a princess. My mum got emotional too. Nothing else compared after that."

What to expect from wedding dress fittings and alterations
"Jackie took my measurements that day, and the gown was made to order in Spain. It arrived in February and I had five fittings in total: a try-on at Kudos, three appointments with Gillian at Threads in Glenrothes for alterations, and a final fitting back at Kudos.
"I’m so grateful to Jackie and Megan for helping to coordinate everything – especially with my tricky work schedule. Megan even packed the gown into my hand luggage herself the weekend before we flew to Spain."
"Alterations were minimal – just the straps and hem – but we did run into a small issue with the underskirt. The hoops were visible through the fabric, but Megan sourced a special version that added the right volume without showing through.
"Jackie also recommended a stunning veil (which I hadn’t planned to wear) and both she and Megan gave advice on everything from underwear to explaining the bustle to my wedding planner."

How I styled my ballgown wedding dress with accessories
"On the wedding day, my dress felt absolutely perfect – luxurious, elegant and full of movement. It suited my personality and the setting so well.
"I wore aquamarine jewellery and a kanzashi hair ornament I’d brought back from Tokyo – I love Japanese culture and wanted to include a little nod to that.
"My makeup tied everything together, especially my bold red lipstick."
Husband’s heartfelt reaction to wedding dress reveal
"Chris wore a vintage navy suit with a pastel pink silk tie and a locally made Spanish fedora.
"We’d kept our outfits a surprise from each other and I vividly remember he was speechless when he first saw me.
"He said he knew it was going to be an impressive dress, but the reality was something he’d never felt or seen before and that I looked “magnificent and show-stopping”.
"The dress is me through and through – extravagant, full of energy but at the same time elegant with attention to details.
"I’d thought I might have my dress cleaned after the wedding, but I’ve decided to keep it just as it is – not impeccable anymore but full of memories and enjoyment instead."

Experience wedding dress shopping at Kudos Bridal Dunfermline
“Kudos Bridal Dunfermline was the first bridal shop Ana visited,” says the store’s assistant manager Megan Carberry. “She came in with an open mind – which is always a great way to approach wedding-dress shopping!
"We went through a process of refinement with Ana trying a variety of styles, before homing in on the detailed, A-line looks that she was gravitating towards.
“Our owner Jackie picked out Luna Novias’ Sivet gown which fit the bill. Our sample had only just arrived in store, so Ana was the first to try it on – it was clearly meant to be."
“When Ana’s own dress arrived a few months later, it fitted her exceptionally well and only needed minor adjustments to the straps and length. It’s always a dream come true when the alterations are that straightforward.”
