We’ve got the details about some of the most expensive and extravagant famous weddings

It’s no surprise that celebs go all out when it comes to their wedding day. With a mostly A-list guestlist, we normally only get to see a glimpse their very exclusive day, and when we do it’s always a showstopper! From the venue to the dress and the designer-clad guests, these events are a far cry from your average wedding day.

Wedding invitation company Aura Print has revealed just how much some of the most expensive celebrity weddings of the last decade actually cost, and we did some further digging to find even more of the priciest wedding budgets. 

Check out their breakdown of these famous wedding days.

1. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant - Estimated £462 million

Topping the list is the recent wedding of Anant Ambani (the son of India's richest man) and Radhika Merchant (the daughter of an Indian billionaire), 

They celebrated the union with several lavish pre-ceremony celebrations which included a luxury cruise around Europe, a masquerade ball and performances from Rihanna, Akon, Pitbull, Katy Perry and the Backstreet Boys. According to The National News, the pre-wedding celebrations are thought to account for around half of the estimated total wedding cost of $600 million (£462 million). 

The wedding itself took place in Mumbai and spanned three days and involved approximately 2,000 guests including Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Tony Blair, John Cena, and Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. 

The wedding weekend took place from 12th-14th July and saw the pair marry in a traditional Hindu ceremony, among many other celebrations and traditional rituals.Their weekend featured numerous outfit changes, but for this ceremony Radhika wore a bespoke Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla red and white ghagra covered in intricate floral motifs and precious stones and sequins. She also wore a six-foot veil that had a delicate and ornate pattern and cut-work.

Although the bride has not shared official photos or details about her engagement ring, she has been seen wearing a blue diamond ring which features two heart-shaped diamonds on either side of the unique stone. 

2. Princess Diana and Prince Charles - Estimated £104 million, when adjusted for inflation 

You could say that many parts of today's wedding industry stems from the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1981. The royal couple wed at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London with around 750 million people around the world watching it all unfold on TV.

According to Smithsonian Magazine, the wedding cost around £37 million at the time which would be around £104 million today. 

Diana wore a custom-made wedding dress, paired with a 25-foot-long train, designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel. Their day also included 3,500 guests, a five-tier 5ft wedding cake, and their now-iconic balcony kiss.

The famous engagement ring is a 12ct oval Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 round diamonds and set in white gold. It cost £28,000 at the time of their engagement, and today it is estimated to be worth up to £300,000.

3. Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge – $4 million (£3.2 million)

Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge recently tied the knot during a stunning wedding weekend in in the South of France. Sofia wowed in several looks over the weekend, sporting plenty of chic Chanel outfits.

On her wedding day, the model wore three amazing Chanel custom-made gowns. While the exact price of her dresses hasn’t been revealed, according to Don’t Die Wondering, just one Chanel wedding dress costs between $100,000-$250,000, so three custom dresses could easily cost more than half a million dollars.

Their big day also included around $175,000 spent on floral arrangements, $7,000 on fireworks and $8,000 on the cake, and $1.5 million on the venue, with the total wedding cost being about $4 million.

As if that wasn’t enough of a price tag, Sofia’s 6-carat, emerald-cut engagement ring is also reported to have cost up to $1 million.

4. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker – $3.5 million (£2.8 million)

Another recent celeb wedding that had everyone talking is Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Italian wedding.

The pair had several wedding celebrations, but it was their extravagant wedding in Castello Brown on the Italian Riviera coastline in May 2022 that really caught people’s eye and kicked off some of 2023’s wedding trends. If you fancy a stay at the stunning medieval castle, it’ll set you back about $60,000 for a weekend.

The reality TV star wore a short Alta Mode wedding dress by Dolce & Gabbana which is said to have cost $500,000. The look was completed with a long, intricate, hand-embroidered veil, tulle gloves and white lace heels.

Their luxurious wedding also included Dolce & Gabbana table settings and around $250,000 worth of other designer details.

Kourtney Kardashian’s engagement ring

Kourtney’s engagement ring also cost around the $1 Million mark, and is an 11-carat oval cut style ring.

5. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – $2.8 million (around £2.2 million)

It was reported that Kim and Kanye spent a whopping $2.8 million on their wedding in 2014.

They got married at The Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, and the venue set them back by around $410K. But with such amazing views, we can understand why they made the trip.

Kim looked beautiful in a custom made Givenchy dress which was designed by Riccardo Tisci and had a price tag of $400K!

When it comes to engagement rings, Kim takes the biscuit, with Kanye spending an unbelievable $3 million on Kim’s ring!

6. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum – $3 million (£2.4 million)

Paris Hilton and Carter Reum tied the knot in 2021 at a Beverly Hills estate which had previously been owned by the Hilton family and costs an estimated $30K to rent out.

Over the course of their three-day celebration, Paris wore six dresses!

Her main wedding dress had a high neck and long sleeves and was designed by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Oscar De La Renta. This dress alone cost the heiress upwards of $25,000 according to Distractify, and she paired it with shoes from Aquazzura and jewellery from Jean Dousset.

Her other looks included an off-the-shoulder gown by Galia Lahav, a lace Marchesa dress and a short dress from Oscar De La Renta.

The most expensive thing for this couple was the incredible $2 Million engagement ring!

7. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas – $2.5 million (£2 million)

Priyanka and Nick got married in 2018 and their celebrations included two wedding ceremonies which both took place at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India. It’s been reported that the couple paid $60K for their venue.

The bride wore a $2 million Ralph Lauren gown on the first wedding day, which featured  11,000 Swarovski crystals and 2.4 million high-lustre sequins. She wore this with an incredible 75-foot-long tulle veil. Nick also wore Ralph Lauren and was dressed sharply in a black tuxedo. 

The following day the pair had their traditional Hindu ceremony, which saw Priyanka wear a gorgeous red Sabyasachi lehenga and matching red veil. Her husband also donned traditional clothes and a turban.
