From multi-million-pound Venice celebrations to royal weddings watched by millions around the world, the most expensive celebrity weddings ever have featured private islands, couture gowns, A-list performers and, of course, eye-watering budgets.

So, what is the most expensive celebrity wedding ever? Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's months-long wedding celebrations are widely reported to have cost an estimated $600 million – around £462 million. More recently, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez hosted one of the biggest celebrity weddings of 2025, with their three-day celebration in Venice reportedly costing as much as $56 million.

Of course, celebrity wedding costs are rarely officially confirmed, and estimates can vary considerably between sources. With that in mind, here are some of the most extravagant and expensive famous weddings.

1. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant - Estimated $600 million

This was less a wedding weekend and more a months-long global spectacle. Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, married Radhika Merchant in Mumbai in July 2024 following an extraordinary series of pre-wedding celebrations.

These reportedly included a luxury cruise around Europe, a masquerade ball and performances from Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, the Backstreet Boys, Akon and Pitbull. The main three-day wedding celebration welcomed a star-studded guest list that included Kim and Khloé Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, John Cena and former UK prime ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson.

The complete celebrations were estimated to have cost around $600 million, making this one of the most expensive weddings ever reported.

2. Princess Diana and Prince Charles - Estimated £104 million, when adjusted for inflation 

Few weddings have had the global impact of the 1981 marriage of Lady Diana Spencer and the then Prince Charles.

Around 3,500 guests attended their ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral in London, while an estimated 750 million people watched around the world. Diana's David and Elizabeth Emanuel wedding dress, complete with its spectacular 25-foot train, remains one of the most recognisable bridal looks in history.

According to Smithsonian Magazine, the wedding cost around £37 million at the time which would be around £104 million today. 

3. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez – estimated $47–56 million

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sánchez married during a spectacular three-day wedding celebration in Venice, Italy, in June 2025.

Around 200 to 250 guests were invited, with Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Kris Jenner and Kim and Khloé Kardashian among the famous faces in attendance.

Events took place across some of Venice's most historic locations, including the cloisters of Madonna dell'Orto, the island of San Giorgio and the Arsenale. Five luxury hotels were reportedly booked for guests, while Bezos and Sánchez stayed at the Aman Venice on the Grand Canal.

According to Reuters, the wedding celebrations were estimated to cost €40 million to €48 million.

4. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – estimated £32 million

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, watched by a huge international audience.

Around 600 guests attended the ceremony, including Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams and David and Victoria Beckham. Meghan wore a minimalist Givenchy wedding dress designed by Clare Waight Keller, accessorised with Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara.

Estimates place the overall cost of the royal wedding at around £32 million, with a substantial proportion attributed to security.

5. Prince William and Kate Middleton – estimated £23 million (£35 million today)

Another royal celebration that drew worldwide attention, Prince William and Kate Middleton married at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

Kate wore her now-iconic Alexander McQueen wedding gown designed by Sarah Burton, while 1,900 guests attended the ceremony. Celebrations continued at Buckingham Palace, complete with an elaborate eight-tier wedding cake.

The wedding is estimated to have cost approximately £23 million (around £35 million today).

6. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – estimated $10 million

Before Kim Kardashian's headline-making wedding to Kanye West came her famously short-lived marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries.

The couple married at a private estate in Montecito, California, in August 2011, with the black-and-white celebration reportedly costing around $10 million. Kim wore three Vera Wang wedding dresses during the event.

The marriage may have lasted just 72 days, but its extravagant budget still earns it a place among the most expensive celebrity weddings.

7. Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge – $4 million 

Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge's 2023 wedding at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in the South of France quickly became one of the most influential celebrity weddings of recent years.

Sofia wore three bespoke Chanel bridal looks across the weekend, while the wedding reportedly featured a huge floral budget, fireworks and an equally impressive cake.

The complete wedding is estimated to have cost approximately $4 million.

8. Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz – estimated £3 million

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz married at the bride's family estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in April 2022.

Nicola wore a custom Valentino Haute Couture wedding dress, while guests included Gordon Ramsay, Serena and Venus Williams, Eva Longoria and members of the Spice Girls.

The glamorous three-day celebration was widely reported to have cost around £3 million.

9. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker – $3.5 million

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker held several wedding celebrations, but it was their lavish Italian ceremony at Castello Brown in Portofino in May 2022 that generated the biggest headlines.

Kourtney wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda mini wedding dress with a dramatic hand-embroidered cathedral-length veil depicting the Virgin Mary.

Their Italian wedding celebrations reportedly cost around $3.5 million.

10. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – $2.8 million

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West married at the historic Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, in 2014, following pre-wedding celebrations in Paris.

Kim wore a custom Givenchy wedding dress designed by Riccardo Tisci, while Andrea Bocelli performed as she walked down the aisle.

11. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum – $3 million

Paris Hilton married Carter Reum in November 2021 during a three-day celebration at her grandfather's former Bel-Air estate.

The heiress wore six bridal outfits over the course of the festivities, with her main ceremony gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. Other bridal looks came from designers including Galia Lahav and Marchesa.

The wedding reportedly cost approximately $3 million.

12. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas – $2.5 million

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrated their marriage with both Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies at the spectacular Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, in 2018.

For the Christian ceremony, Priyanka wore a Ralph Lauren gown featuring millions of sequins and an extraordinary 75-foot veil. The following day, she wore a traditional red Sabyasachi lehenga for the couple's Hindu ceremony.

Their multi-day wedding celebrations reportedly cost approximately $2.5 million.

Kim Kardashian's 2011 wedding to NBA player Kris Humphries is estimated to have cost around $10 million, making it more expensive than her later wedding to Kanye West, which reportedly cost approximately $2.8 million. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's Italian wedding celebrations were estimated at around $3.5 million.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 royal wedding at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, is estimated to have cost between $42 million and $45 million. A large proportion of the reported budget was attributed to security.
