Finding the perfect wedding planner
Lauren began a new job midway through planning while Scott was working offshore, so the couple enlisted Premier Weddings & Events for final coordination.
“Bringing Cheryl on board for final coordination and on-the-day management was one of the best decisions we made,” says Lauren.
“She brought calm, clarity and structure when we needed it most, and allowed us to properly enjoy the lead-up and the big day itself without worrying about logistics.”
The couple had become engaged on a gondola in Venice, so timeless romance naturally influenced their wedding styling.
“From the outset, I wanted pink and white roses, a romantic, elegant vibe, bridesmaids wearing black and the guys in black-tie,” says Lauren.
Crossbasket Castle's ballroom and ceremony spaces sealed the deal.
“The ballroom is magnificent, and the James Little Hall feels like a hidden chapel within the castle. It was the most beautiful, intimate setting for our ceremony.”

Couture bridal style and classic black tie
After struggling to find her wedding dress in Scotland, Lauren travelled to Galia Lahav's London flagship.
“Wearing a Galia Lahav gown had been a dream of mine for years, so when the label opened a London flagship store, it felt like fate,” she says.
She eventually chose a floral lace gown, customised with off-the-shoulder sleeves and paired with a bespoke cathedral-length veil. Scott complemented the look in a classic black tuxedo from Forbes in Glasgow.
An emotional castle wedding ceremony
Lauren walked down the aisle with her dad to ‘Dreams’ by Gabrielle, performed by Capella String Quartet.
The ceremony was particularly poignant following the loss of Scott's Papa shortly before the wedding. The couple chose two meaningful readings: an excerpt from Captain Corelli's Mandolin and 1 Corinthians 13:4.

Another emotional moment came courtesy of Lauren's chocolate Labrador, Rolo.
“He came down for some photos, and I cried as soon as I saw my little bestie in his white bow tie. I treasure that time with him even more now, as we sadly lost him to old age in March this year.”
Crossbasket Castle bespoke wedding menu
Following the ceremony, guests headed into the sunshine for champagne before speeches and dinner in the ballroom.
The couple requested beef Wellington for their wedding breakfast because Lauren traditionally makes it for her family on Boxing Day. “It was divine,” she says. Later, a wood-fired pizza truck provided evening food.

Then came the party. Brother Man, a saxophonist and Euan from Tartan Entertainment kept the dancefloor packed.
“We really did have the best time ever at our reception,” says Lauren.
“Scott and I were buzzing with adrenaline the whole time. It's so special being around all the people you love, especially considering how rare it is to have them all in one place at the same time.”
