Craig married Jenny at The Exchange, Glasgow, on 21st December 2025, wearing MacIntyre Hunting Modern tartan trews paired with a traditional Prince Charlie jacket and vest from Sett Kilts and Tailoring.
Now he shares a first-hand account of his groomswear shopping experience and doesn't leave out any details...
A last-minute proposal at Inveraray Castle
"Jenny had always made it very clear that she wanted to be engaged before she turned 30 – and I got in there in injury time.
"We were heading to Inveraray Castle for her birthday and had set off the day before, my plan being to propose at the castle’s beautiful gardens. But I forgot to check if they’d be open, and it being November we arrived to find them closed for the season.
"I couldn’t let that stop me, not with it being so close to the deadline, so I got down on one knee right there in the castle car park, held out a massive fake diamond placeholder ring (we’d always talked about choosing the ring together) and, stumbling over my words, asked her to marry me.
"Thankfully she laughed and I got my yes!"
Planning a chic Glasgow city wedding at The Exchange
"We live in Glasgow and wanted a chic city winter wedding to take advantage of the time off over Christmas; a twilight wedding at The Exchange fitted the bill exactly.

"I started shopping for my trews with a trip to Edinburgh about six months before the wedding.
"After a boozy day out in the capital and no information to bring home to Jenny, I realised it would be easier to stay local – and that’s when we discovered Sett Kilts and Tailoring, a sister company of MacGregor and MacDuff, on Battlefield Road, just a short walk from our flat.
"I wanted a tartan with a family connection but I wasn’t sold on mine (Wright). But then I was told Wright was a sett of MacIntyre, which was exactly what I had in mind."
Finding the perfect tartan at Sett Kilts and Tailoring
"I was immediately drawn to Sett’s space – the boutique tailor’s vibe, the midcentury furniture, the mannequins in bespoke suits and incredible vintage ties – and after speaking to creative director Erin, I knew this was the shop I wanted to trust with my outfit.
"We selected the tartan, then I had my measurements taken and I was booked in for my first fitting a week later."

Inside the fittings: from tailoring the trews to getting the full outfit visual
"I had three fittings in total for my trews, plus a group fitting for kilt hire for the groomsmen and my dad, before collecting them a solid month ahead of the big day.
"During each fitting, store manager Eva was so thorough with my notes on how I wanted everything to fit and feel."
"From cementing my gut feeling that a formal jacket (rather than tweed) would work better with my chosen tartan, to the very specific slope tailoring I wanted at the ankle of my trews.
"We even took the time to dress me in the groomsmen’s kilt outfit to get the full visual, and it looked so bloody great I actually had a little wobble about whether I wanted the kilt myself – but I stuck to my guns and ordered the trews."
The finished look: compliments and comfort in full formal attire
"On the day itself I was over the moon with my outfit. Sett provided me with two different sizes of jacket and vest as I wasn’t wearing a belt with my trews and the smaller vest was showing some shirt. There was no extra charge for this and it was massively appreciated.
"Of course my trews were the standout – fitted perfectly and unbelievably comfortable – and I got so many compliments, particularly from Jenny who thought I looked especially handsome."
"It was my first time in such formal attire, a big change from my casual everyday style, and I truly loved the jacket, vest and bow tie combination.
"I’ll definitely be back to Sett to hire the full combo again, but I’m so glad I own my trews – every time I wear them I’ll have the memory of our wedding day."
Behind the scenes with Sett Kilts and Tailoring
“Craig knew what he wanted from the start, so it was an easy, laidback first appointment,” says Erin McGreechin, creative director at Sett Kilts and Tailoring.
“Craig and Jenny were aiming for a timeless and super-classy feel for their big day, making the Prince Charlie with the trews a great option – tradition with a modern twist.
“And having the groomsmen in the kilts was a lovely way to allow Craig to subtly stand out.”
