True Bride takes over with a tantalising new line

If you’d asked us a year ago what sprung to mind when we thought of True Bride, pretty bridesmaid dresses in a rainbow of shades would most likely have been our first answer. Lately, however, we’ve been sitting up and taking notice of the brand’s blossoming bridal line.

After a previous series of gowns showered in beadwork à la 1920s, 2018 has moved on a couple of decades. Picture Lauren Bacall, smouldering in How To Marry A Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe: the 1940’s Hollywood siren feels like the right muse for the current collection, thanks to its off-the-shoulder necklines (how swoon-worthy is W305, above right?) draped embellishments (Gabriella’s cap sleeves, above left, from the True by Nicki Flynn range, are an update on last year’s love of back jewellery) and cut-out backs (W306 is a sweeter take on the trend). “We have been carrying True Bride dresses for several years now,” explains Karen Wright at The Bridal Suite near Glasgow. “We started with the Essentials and True Bridesmaid ranges, which attracted us with their stunning designs – and the button finish to the back sealed the deal. Their attention to detail and the cut of their gowns is amazing and suitable for all body shapes. Every season sees more beautiful gowns produced – our problem is knowing what to choose!”

“We’ve stocked True Bride’s bridesmaid line for a long time,” echoes Lorraine MacLennan at Sarah Louise Bridal in Glasgow. “It’s been our top designer in store for ’maids, in part due to its sizing and colour spectrum. It’s only recently that we’ve started selling the bridal range and, although we’re still waiting on it finding its feet, we’re astounded by the quality of the embellishments and fabrics. The collection carries a variety of styles and the pricing is so reasonable for such high-end gowns. We’re also looking forward to introducing their plus-size line – it’s very modern and flattering for fuller figures.”

Fancy a closer look? Sarah Louise Bridal will be showing off the new range at its True Curves weekend, this Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May. Call 0141 332 6060 for an appointment.
