Kenneth and Alexandria’s wedding at The Exchange in Glasgow had chic minimalist styling with statement florals, a live jazz band and a showstopping pavlova

Kenneth McLeod and Alexandria McNairn’s modern Glasgow wedding took place on 17 October 2025 at The Exchange in Glasgow, one of the city’s most sought-after contemporary wedding venues. Their stylish Scottish city wedding paired minimalist décor with statement hydrangea florals, live jazz and a showstopping pavlova.

A modern Glasgow wedding at The Exchange

Alexandria and Kenneth’s engagement technically lasted six years. Originally planning a destination wedding in Marbella, the couple rethought their plans after their dog became seriously ill.

“The money it cost to save his life was the money we’d saved for the wedding… at least he’s still here – the most expensive bichon in Glasgow,” Alexandria laughs.

They eventually decided on a wedding closer to home, with Alexandria already familiar with The Exchange through her work as a makeup artist.

“I worked at a wedding there and thought it was lovely. I emailed for a brochure and that was pretty much it – we booked for nine months later.”

For Alexandria, the venue’s dedicated getting-ready space, The Parlour, was key.

“You could be looking at potentially 12 to 15 bodies in one room. You need space for that.”

Statement florals and a pavlova centrepiece

Before confirming the venue, Alexandria locked in two must-have suppliers: florist Baillie from Fiori Glasgow and filmmaker Rory from RHB Wedding Films.

“Our date all hinged on the availability of Baillie and Rory.”

Flowers became a major design focus, with cascading blue hydrangeas creating graphic, sculptural installations throughout the space.

“Oh my god, the floral bill was high… I just knew I wanted hydrangeas in a particular shade of blue.”

Dessert was equally impactful: a giant fruit-topped pavlova from Tennessee’s Treats, dusted with icing sugar by the couple in front of their guests.

Wedding dress shopping in Glasgow

Alexandria wore a chic two-piece by Divine Atelier from Anne Priscilla Bridal in Glasgow – the first dress in the first boutique she visited. “It was one and done! I don’t really wear dresses, so I wanted something quite low-key.”

Kenneth, meanwhile, looked sharp in a suit from Slater Made to Order.

A simple ceremony with an unexpected aisle moment

Their humanist ceremony, led by Alex Moore from Humanist Society Scotland, was intentionally minimal – standard vows, no readings. “We just wanted to get to the party.”

But one moment caught Alexandria completely off guard. Halfway down the aisle, Kenneth stepped forward to walk the rest of the way with her.

“I broke down in tears. That was my favourite moment.”

Jazz, dancing and city wedding energy

Post-ceremony drinks unfolded in The Print Room with live jazz from Ritz Trio. “They were the best money we spent.”

The evening continued with The Phat Cats and DJ Jordyn from Tartan Entertainment, with the couple’s first dance set to Sister Sledge’s Thinking of You.

Reflecting on the planning process, Alexandria keeps it real: “I gave Kenneth one job – to send the menu choices. I ended up on the phone to The Exchange a week before the wedding doing it myself. My advice? If you want something done, just do it yourself,” she laughs.
