Located on the east side of the City Chambers complex, 23 Montrose Street is a registry office wedding venue – convenient, centrally located and stunningly beautiful.

The stunning ceremony suites highlight the building’s original architectural beauty, seamlessly merging expertly preserved historic features with refined contemporary style.

Private dressing rooms are available on-site, as well as a beautiful entrance area that is perfect for guests to gather and snap some pictures. 

Please note: Ceremonies are available Monday-Saturday, with the exception of public holidays.

Designed by Glaswegian architect William Young and opened by Queen Victoria in 1888, Glasgow City Chambers is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Spanning four floors and steeped in history and tradition, the City Chambers is ideal for couples with a spectacular venue in mind. From the Coat of Arms-inspired mosaic flooring to the Italian Carrara marble staircase – the largest of its kind in western Europe – every inch of the building exudes opulence and elegance.

Please note: Ceremonies are available on Saturdays, Sundays and most public holidays with the exception of Christmas, New Year and Easter.

The Satinwood Suite – Weddings overlooking George Square

Both venues offer private use of the ceremony room during your booked time, however the building and complex remain open to the public.

The ceremony suites at 23 Montrose Street are located on the ground floor and are fully wheelchair accessible. An accessible toilet is also available on-site.

Glasgow City Chambers provides ramp access, lifts to all floors, and includes an accessible toilet for guests.

What catering is available? 

23 Montrose Street is a ceremony-only venue; however, couples opting for a suite in the City Chambers can continue their celebrations with a canapé and drinks reception, provided by the award-winning team at Encore Hospitality Services.

Neither venue offers wedding breakfasts or post-ceremony receptions. However, they are surrounded by a variety of hotels and restaurants couples can visit after their ceremony.
