Kohler Waters Spa at Old Course Hotel, St Andrews
Hydrotherapy in St Andrews
Reviewer: Amy Shearer
From the moment I step inside Kohler Waters Spa at Old Course Hotel, I know I’m in for something special. The scent of essential oils fills the air as I sip on a ginger wellness shot while filling out my consultation form.
If I feel this relaxed before my treatment even begins, I can only imagine the bliss ahead.
UK’s first Espuro Foam Experience steam room
This is the only Kohler Waters Spa outside the United States, and its philosophy revolves around water-based therapies. The highlights include:
- A beautiful relaxation pool
- A hydrotherapy suite
- A newly renovated sauna and steam room
- Experience showers and a cold plunge pool
- The UK’s first Espuro Foam Experience steam room – a plant-based, fragrant foam ritual designed to nourish the skin while providing deep relaxation
Bridal treatments at Old Course Hotel
For bridal beauty, I choose the Outer Glow Spa Ritual, a 90-minute indulgence that combines:
- A full-body exfoliation using Kohler’s signature scrub
- A nourishing full-body massage
- A hydrating mini facial
My skilled therapist even provides expert skincare advice, recommending products that could elevate my at-home routine. By the end, my skin is so soft I’m tempted to ask strangers to feel it (though I resist!).

Hydrating pre-wedding skin treatments
I indulge in a two-part experience:
1. Rasul Mud Cure Experience: A self-application treatment where I scrub my skin with a beetroot-and-yuzu salt scrub, then apply a mineral-rich mud before relaxing in a steam room. My skin emerges silky smooth.
2. Bamford Restore Organic Facial: A 60-minute pampering session using Bamford Organics’ luxury skincare products. The highlights include:
- A heated cocoon-like bed for deep relaxation
- A warmed jade stone placed on my solar plexus
- Heart-shaped gua shas and a chilled pink-quartz eye mask to enhance product absorption
Afterward, my usually dry skin glows with newfound radiance.
Whether you’re after hydrotherapy in St Andrews, breathtaking countryside relaxation in Renfrewshire, or a holistic escape in East Lothian, Scotland has plenty of luxurious spas to choose from.
